Jacques Kuba Séguin
Versatile and adventurous, Quebec trumpeter Jacques Kuba Séguin composes for his jazz bands MiGRATIONS, Litania Projekt and Odd Lot, and also writes for symphony orchestra. Séguin's pieces are explosive and complex, but at the same time melodic and accessible. As a performer, this Polish Canadian has a flair for showmanship, and is recognized as one of the most brilliant trumpeters of his generation. Jacques has been making a name for himself on the national and international music scenes for over fifteen years. His projects regularly take him to Poland for appearances with pianist Pawel Kaczmarczyk. Séguin’s album Migrations received the 2020 JUNO for Best Solo Jazz Album, and the 2020 FÉLIX for Jazz Album of the Year in Quebec. He has also accumulated several ADISQ and Opus Award nominations for his previous six albums. Jacques’ latest work, La trilogie des Odeurs (Parfum n°1) is inspired by the olfactory memories of our lives, especially from childhood, taking us to a rich, instinctive and evocative musical universe formed out of various intoxicating perfumes and aromas, and their raw ingredients. Faithful to his musical collaborators, Jacques has worked with drummer Kevin Warren, pianist Jonathan Cayer and bassist Rémi-Jean Leblanc for many years.
