Pahua is a composer, percussionist, DJ and producer from Mexico City who mixes Caribbean and folkloric beats with electronics and percussion, creating a border-busting dance-party soundtrack rooted in ancient rhythms and melodies.

Paulina Sotomayor, the trailblazer behind Pahua, began her musical journey as a mariachi singer before receiving wide attention for the band Sotomayor, a neo-cumbia experimental project she founded with her brother.

She began her solo musical journey as Pahua during the pandemic, and has since released 4 EPs and one LP on the LA-based label Nacional Records. A remix release of the full-length album, Habita, earlier this year by the renowned dance-music label Razor-N-Tape brought her additional attention and acclaim while getting her music into the hands of a new cohort of international DJs, who used it to pack dance floors around the world. 

From Brazilian funk, dancehall, South American folkloric music, cumbia, global bass, and more, Pahua is bound to keep the party going well into the Sunfest night with an irresistible and exciting globetrotting sound.
