The Tune 🇰🇷
Recreating traditional Korean work and folk songs, The Tune brings centuries’-old shamanic culture and tradition into the modern world with unforgettable live experiences. Aiming to inspire a sense of renewal and recovery among audiences, the invocation and involvement of spiritual elements as part of the live experience takes things to a higher level.
Founded in 2014, the band’s members come from classical music, jazz, visual art, folk music, and more, and are constantly finding ways to experiment with traditional music, fueled by an interest in contemporary forms and the potential in their instrumentation: haegeum (fiddle), janggu (percussion), piri and taepyeongso (woodwinds), keyboards, and vocals.
In Korea they’ve performed at the Jeonju Sori Festival, ACC World Music Festival, and Suseong World Music Festival; internationally, they have been showcased as part of industry events such as Visa for Music (Morocco), Circulart (Colombia), and more, while performing in public-facing spaces across the US (Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and more) and Europe (Colors of Ostrava, FMM Sines, and more).
