Clarinet Factory are a Prague-based quartet of classically educated clarinet players (3 clarinets & a bass clarinet) who are “absolutely original, unique and great” (American journalist/producer Gerald Seligman). For over 20 years they have blithely blended contemporary, classical, jazz, improvisational, folk and world genres to create “music without borders”. The group prides itself on performing at unusual venues, such as a flooded quarry in Central Bohemia and the Czech Museum of Music. They focus on visualizations, devising sound and lighting concepts in different types of spaces, and like to collaborate with dancers, filmmakers, and stage artists. Examples attesting to the group’s international reputation include scooping up first place at the prestigious American International Songwriting Competition (2005) and receiving an invitation to perform alongside Bobby McFerrin.
