SOUTH STAGE
SUNDAY 5:45PM-6:45PM

Luna Ersahin has a voice, a personality, and an artistically beautiful temperament that instantly wins you over. As the global ensemble AySay, Luna and her two bandmates Aske Døssing Bendixen and Carl West Hosbond create a deeply fascinating, smooth and bridge-building style of indie folk, sung in Turkish, Danish and Kurdish, and incorporating elements of traditional Anatolian music and modern Western pop. For active listeners, AySay’s music is colorful, interwoven and surprising. For dancers, their music is enthralling, groovy and uplifting. And for those who turn to music for a life-affirming inner journey, Luna’s voice and lyrics offer depth, honesty and hope.

AySay really came into the limelight when they performed in the Danish city of Aarhus during the opening ceremony to recognize it as the European Capital of Culture 2017. Since then, the group has played, among other dates, Roskilde Festival, P6 Beat Rocker Koncerthuset and HEJ SØSTER FEST in Denmark as well as festivals and showcases abroad, such as Sinsal (Spain), Arctic Sounds (Greenland) Les Escales (France) and Mundial Montréal (Canada). Most recently, AySay was nominated in three DMA (Danish Music Awards) Roots categories: Group of the Year, Album of the Year (Su Akar) and Composer of the Year (for Luna Ersahin). The band’s critically acclaimed debut Su Akar was released in 2021, and they will follow up later this year with the album KÖY.
