Versatile and adventurous, Quebec trumpeter Jacques Kuba Séguin composes for his jazz bands Odd lot, Litania projekt and Migrations, and writes for symphony orchestra. Séguin’s works are explosive and complex, but at the same time melodic and accessible. As a performer, this Polish Canadian has a flair for showmanship, and is recognized as one of the most brilliant trumpeters of his generation. Jacques has been making a name for himself on the national and international music scenes for over fifteen years.
His album Migrations received the 2020 JUNO for best solo jazz album, and the 2020 FÉLIX for jazz album of the year. He also has accumulated several ADISQ and Opus Award nominations for his previous six albums. Faithful in his collaborations, Jacques has long surrounded himself with drummer Kevin Warren, pianist Jonathan Cayer and bassist Rémi-Jean Leblanc. Also, his projects regularly take him to Poland for appearances with pianist Pawel Kaczmarczyk and his other ensembles.
