Barbra Lica is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter, arranger and producer who has been receiving accolades for a unique approach that stresses subtlety, grace and storytelling.  She has performed around the world – from New York City’s legendary Birdland to Toronto’s prestigious Koerner Hall – and headlined at festivals throughout North America, Europe and Japan.  Barbra’s genuine warmth, quirky humour and confident stage presence drew raves when she appeared at the TD Sunfest Jazz Village.

Frank De Blase of Rochester City Newspaper writes, “It starts and ends with Lica’s voice. It’s a bright, vibrant contralto one minute, laconic and syrupy the next when she lets a phrase die on the vine and trail off”

“With her upbeat lilt and vocal cuteness on covers and originals, Lica offers smiles and sympathy, not blues,” opines the Globe & Mail’s Brad Wheeler.

Barbra’s debut album, “That’s What I Do” (Triplet / Universal Jazz Japan), was released to widespread acclaim in 2012, earning her a CBC ranking as one of Canada’s Top 5 jazz singers as well as a spot on blogTO as a Top 5 up-and-coming Toronto jazz artist. Her 2017 album “I’m Still Learning” was nominated for a JUNO Award in the category of “Best Vocal Jazz Album”.

The singer’s most recent project, “You’re Fine” (Justin Time Records), was recorded at Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville and established a brand-new sound for Barbra which seamlessly blends jazz, country, and folk influences.

Today, this unforgettable vocal artist continues to develop her genre-bending style, writing and producing from quarantine such gems as the 2020 Christmas single “The Greatest Gift”.
