Poets of the street, dancers of the soul, Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra combines Afro-Colombian percussion with a full Balkan-style brass section, traditional Roma-style fiddle, and choreographed dance & circus moves. The group’s highly theatrical and interactive approach unleashed the perfect “creative chaos” for their debut TD Sunfest appearance, where they were enthusiastically embraced by festivalgoers. Formed just three years ago, the 16-piece GKO has already racked up over 140 performance dates, including festivals across Ontario, Québec, Eastern Canada, Colombia and parts of France.
Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra’s first recording, Revuelta Danza Party, was nominated for a 2016 JUNO Award in the category World Music Album of the Year.
