KC & The Live Revolution

KC Roberts & The Live Revolution (KCLR) are proud purveyors of beautiful vintage music (funk, jazz, rock), with an artistic obligation to shift all that's sacredly funky and soulful into the current phase of popular music (hip-hop, house, electronic, Drum n' Bass, etc.). Essentially an original 8-piece funk band, KCLR is well-known for its mind-blowing live performances, winning the 2007 Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Live Act. Matt Bauer of Exclaim! Magazine writes: “If one needed proof of the vitality and authenticity of new Canadian funk music, they need look no further.”  TD Toronto Jazz Festival Artistic Director Josh Grossman calls KCLR “scary good…a blast to hear and just as fun to watch.”  Drawing comparisons to The Roots, Jamiroquai and Janelle Monáe, the band has regularly shared the stage with major international artists such as Lettuce, Lee Fields, Five Alarm Funk, Naturally 7, DJ Q-Bert, Z-Trip and Blue King Brown. KCLR has seven albums under its belt, including two 2016 releases, Live at 3030 and From the North, Pt. 1.  The latter is the first installment in a 17-song project recorded live in front of a four-person camera crew. Each song on From the North has its own music video, telling a story through unique art pieces.
