Barbra Lica Quintet

A deep passion for jazz, and classic vocalists like Doris Day and Ella Fitzgerald, was the creative spark for this classy Toronto-based singer, songwriter and arranger who has become a seasoned act on the North American club and festival circuit.  Barbra’s sunny disposition (“She smiles when she sings,” says CBC’s Tim Tamashiro), charming stage manner, and a unique vocal ability that stresses subtlety and grace, have earned Barbra a ranking as one of Canada’s Top 5 Jazz Singers (CBC Radio), and quickly made her a TD Sunfest audience favourite.  Since releasing her acclaimed 2012 debut album, That’s What I Do, she has opened for jazz veterans Christian McBride, Pat Metheny and Terence Blanchard, and performed for over 1000 audience members at the Tokyo International Jazz Festival.

Barbra Lica's 2017 summer/fall tour will be in promotion of her new JUNO-nominated album, I’m Still Learning. It was co-produced by JUNO Award-winning, platinum album-producing guitarist James Bryan and accomplished pop/jazz bassist Marc Rogers (Joe Lovano, Nikki Yanofsky, Norah Jones). It features Lou Pomanti (Anne Murray, Michael Bublé) on keyboards and Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy, Michael Brecker) on percussion. It also introduces Barbra’s touring band of up-and-coming Jazz musicians from across Canada who will be joining Barbra on the road. Barbra’s versatility as a performer continues to grow along with her fanbase. "Barbra Lica is a dazzling performer who has talent to burn and vocals that will knock you over."  (Ross Porter, CEO & President, JAZZ.FM91).
